As you can imagine death was very busy during World War 2, but, amidst the mountains of death he encountered, he also discovered the book thief aka Leisel Meminger. Death was so touched by Leisel's story that he decides to share it with us, and what a sad and beautiful story it is. Pain, suffering and ultimate tenderness.
A truly inspiring book.
Although categorised as a childrens book it is probably more appealing to teenagers and adults. Interesting twist to Death who narrates the story of Lisel a young girl sent to live in a foster home with her brother who dies on the journey there to save them from the fate that befalls their mother who disappears near the start of WW2. Death is more of a compasionate person in this who is 'Haunted by people'. A geat book I highly recommend
This is the best book I have ever read. The ending completely blew me away. I read the book in 2 days, because it was too good to put down. That may sound cliché, but I have never said that about a book before. It's definitely worth buying and is one of those stories which you can immerse yourself in over and over again.
