Early one morning a little spider begins to spin her web on a fence post. In this multi-sensory book, children can feel the pictures as well as see them, while they hear or read the easy rhythmic text. Alongside the visual excitement of Eric Carle's vibrant collages of familiar animals is the tactile experience of feeling the spider's web as it grows from a simple line into a complex and beautiful creation - a perfect story for reading aloud and sharing.

I thought this book was really good. Remember to buy the board book version of this book and not the mini version. I am still trying to encourage my one year old son to touch the raised web on the pages, I think he will get there. At the moment he likes lift the flap books more. I have given this book as a present and it was well received.
We have had the Very Hungry Caterpillar for years now and couldn't resist adding the Very Busy Spider to our collection....we just love the tactile aspect to the web throughout the book...great for getting the child involved in the story!!
Familiar Eric Carle illustrations make this a fantastic addition to our home library.
This is a brilliant book. It follows the challenge and concentration of a very busy spider making her web. She's so busy that she doesn't have any time for her friends. Each page shows a new piece of her web being made. The web is also raised, so the book is very tactile and woul dbe great for sight impaired children as they could also enjoy the book and get an idea of how a web is created.
Brilliant! My twin boys are only 8 months old but they love this book. Already they trace theirs fingers over the spider web and will sit and listen to it being read over and over again.
My daughter and I enjoy this book. Board books are great for very young children who like to touch the pictures (particularly when there are tactile components, such as in this book) and 'help' turn the pages. In true Eric Carle style, the pictures are simple yet very effective and there is also educational value (eg. why do spiders make webs, learning the farm animals and the sounds they make).
Not a great book-I was a bit disappointed in the shortness of the story. It wasn't very exciting. Maybe suit a very young child as my two year old was bored quickly after reading it.
