A much-loved classic, "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" has won over millions of readers with its vivid and colourful collage illustrations and its deceptively simply, hopeful story. With its die-cut pages and finger-sized holes to explore, this is a richly satisfying book for children.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar is a classic children's picture story book - it is both educational and fun, with some stunningly simple yet striking illustrations that are gorgeous. It is a must-have story to read to your children - they will surely love you for getting them this book - guaranteed!
This is one of my daughter's very favourite books! She loves to cuddle up and go through the pages as we count the fruit and explore The Very Hungry Caterpillar's adventure as he grows into a beautiful butterfly! Definitely a timeless classic and a must for the bookshelf of any child (or adult!)
What a classic this book is! I remember this from when I was a child and it was one of the first books I brought for my son. He lovs it in it's simplicity. It incorporates learning colours, counting, days of the week and the life cycle of a caterpillar into a butterfly.
A classic book, which I remember enjoying and my son does now, especially this version as he can poke his fingers in the holes. A good way to introduce counting, healthy eating and the life cycle of other creatures too. The colouful pictures are great and have inspired collage art projects with neices and students.
Its all good - this is a classic children's book that belongs in every home library. This board book version is perfect for taking to bed, and is still as engaging as the big hard cover version.
Ideal for little people aged 0-3.
This is a well known book with a nice story so I wanted to get it for my baby son as it is a classic. Very nice colourful illustrations and educational about the caterpillar to butterfly transformation. I got the miniature board book version which is smaller than the standard paperback version but perfect for little hands and great for popping in your back to take out & about. The board book is really easy & safe for him to play with and he can poke the holes with his fingers without risk of tearing any pages - he really loves doing this! Each 'hole' page is a different size to the next which adds another dimension of interest to it (I can't remember if the paper version has different sized pages or not so maybe this is another advantage of the boardbook version). There are many different versions of this book listed on here so make sure you double check the price & size and whether it's a paperback or board book (sometimes called hardcover) eg be careful you don't get the 'tiny pocket book' edition by mistake as it's cheaper in price but is really small! To help...the version I got has ISBN no. 9780241003008 and is 13cm x 18cm. While I still prefer the more 'touchy feely' board books this is a good colourful classic to have in fab boardbook form.
This is a great book! It uses a caterpillar's life cycle as a way to inform children that humans go through cycles as well. It is very educational as well as fun to read. My niece used the book for her reading fair project and it was fun working it. I checked out The Very Hungry Caterpillar's kit(contains: caterpillar puppet, puzzle, book, and large pictures of the fruits with holes in it) from our local library which will surely make the project a winner. We both enjoyed ourselves; a great family project.
A classic! Reading about this ravenously hungry caterpillar munching his way through lots of different foods provides many opportunities for children to learn to count, identify foods, and learn about the caterpillar life cycle in a fun and easy way. My kids love this book.
This book has been around since i was a child and it is a fantastic book and my daughter loves it. She brings it too me and asks me to read it to her and she always smiles and says "yum" when she sees the food. Ten out of ten for this book. Great buy.
