this book really spoke to me. i love the way that scott westerfeld had taken a issue that many societies suffer from today and has turned it into a fictional book. Many people like myself, will be able to realate with the characters in one way or another. i would definatly have to give uglies five out of five stars. also if you like this check out the second and third in the series, pretties and specials.

I liked this book because the idea was very original, compared to other books. The characters are interesting and after I finished it, it made me want to read the second book in the series. It is well written and well thought out.

I definitely suggest you read this book, even if it isn't something you'd normally read.

I never realy enjoy books written in 3rd person books .. but Uglies changed my mind!
This book's querky world captures you from the first page and through the book
you just can't help being swept up in Tally Youngblood's adventures!
Make sure you have the second book ready once you've done with this one,
becasue on the the last chapter it leaves you gasping for more!

Uglies was one of the best books i ever sat down to read and because of that Scott Westerfeld is now my favourite author. My favourite bit about uglies was that you never got bored. You start with Tally having to make new friends because her best friend has already turned pretty. Not long after that Tallys new best friend Shay decides to run away and Tally is forced 2 follow her to " The Smoke". She finally makes it there and starts living as a Smokey and meets people and makes new friends but unfortunetly something bad happens................. What happens better pick up the book to find out.

Scott Westerfeld is one of the best authors I have ever seen and or read.
REASON: UGLIES
It's action packed, full of suspense, it's got twist galore- but they're never ridiculous and it plays on modern society's obsession with the superficial aspects of people.
It follows the story of Tally Youngblood- Tally lives in a futuristic society where when somenone turns 16 they are turned into a supermodel looking God through plastic surgery. Up until you are sixteen you are an Ugly- after you're sixteen you are a Pretty. The book is amazing and something that i have really related to, gotten into and recommended to all of my friends and i strongly recommend it to you.

I really think the references to the present day's abuse of the Earth and the authors ability to look at the present day so objectively is an amazing and really interesting layer to this onion like- talking about layers here people- book.
it's brilliant and everyone no matter who they are ahould read it.

A brilliant teenage/young adult read. It is centered around a world different from ours where at the age of sixteen, teens are sent off to be made beautiful. Anyone before that age, are called "Uglies". This is a story of one girl who finds out the truth behind why this happens. A well written and ingenious book, parents, buy this for your teens! Lots of action, twists and turns in the plot, and good characters. Exciting!

Uglies is one of the best books i have ever come across. Its a book that you dont want to put down. Every chapter has you wanting to know what happens next. Once i had read it, the next book was on my mind frequently!. I love how Scott Westerfeld sets a future theme, How issues in real life now were brought up in this book as stupid things in the past (history) we caused and did, and how we destroyed things etc. Tally the adventurous teenager awaiting her turn to become pretty has feelings and emotions we can all relate too making it a heart-felt story as well as very very exciting. Read it now! You wont Regret it!
