This is a great book for getting to know how to treat and train your dog. Once you put these things into practise it enables your dog to be calm,content and totally happy just being a dog instead of a substitute "child" as we dog owners tend to do. My dogs have come on ten fold after applying the principles in this book and are so much better to be around.
It is an extension of his tv series and well worth purchasing.

Shortly after purchasing this book my four legged mate of 10 years passed away. I continued to read the book knowing I will one day buy another dog but in the meantime I am finding it is helping me greatly to better understand other peoples dog behaviour. I am currently training my son's dog and the book has been so helpful to understand my training faults and the dog. Wonderful book and easy to read. Of all the books I have read regarding dogs this is definitely the one that has helped the most.

Loved the book!! A great read for those wanting to have a better understanding of their dogs. Not a quick fix guide, more of an inspirational read. My husband is currently reading it and feels the same.

Cesar Millan is inspiring. He possesses an incredible gift when it comes to understanding dog psychology (and indeed dog owners). He has instinctive intelligence, genuine respect and love of dogs. If possible, watch the series "The Dog Whisperer" to fully appreciate his insight and how quickly an animal can be transformed. As he reiterates, he rehabilitates dogs and trains people ... not surprisingly, the dogs are invariably rehabilitated quite quickly, but the humans take considerably longer! Compulsory reading if you have a dog, especially one with troubling behaviour ... or even if you simply love your dog enough to do what is best for him or her. Do yourself and your canine friend a favour, read this book and watch the series.

This book explains pack psychology and how dogs have and need a role to play in the pack. Humans don't allow dogs to be dogs thus creating problems and some times turning dogs into what Cesar calls 'red zone dogs' ie dogs that are out of control and become a danger to other animals and humans. He goes on to explain a number of issues that dogs develop because owners try to humanize their dogs. I like the way Cesar sets rules, boundaries and limitations for his dogs, very similar to raising children. In his book Cesar is about rehabilitating dogs and not training them. Helping them through the power of the pack to become balanced and therefore happy dogs.

Highly recommended. Reads at the start like an autobiography but is a great guide for bringing up a well behaved dog. I have implemented most of his techniques and they are great, I can see visible changes in my 7mo pup who was a bit of a ratbag, but has now settled considerably since. Cesar is great!

This is a wonderful book. So insightful and useful. I would recommend this book to any dog owner. After reading this book and applying the techniques and concepts both of my dogs have been happier and better behaved. 10/10
