A capybara is a real animal. It is the largest existing rodent and looks something like a giant guinea pig, to which it is related. Normally the capybara lives near the rivers and lakes of South America, but this one lived with the Peet family.

The Capyboppy is a hilarious book, it follows the story of a family who is stuck with a bizarre large rodent, that they do not know what to do with. This is a great one fore children, my young daughter absolutely loved it. A great gift, which really teaches children as they enjoy the story.
Only Bill Peet could write a book so totally engaging as this. We highly recommend this. The story is based on the Peet family's experience with a capybara and as the story humorously progresses you're drawn into the dilemma of, "What on earth are they going to do with this pet?", that starts to display roguish tendances that are NOT acceptable for a household pet. Well in the end...... you'll have to read the book to find out.
