Captain is a very handsome cat who lives in a house by the river. He sleeps, he washes, he eats, and when he is not doing that he strolls down to the river in the moonlight, jumps into his rowing boat, rows to the house where his girlfriend lives, and sits holding paws with her under the stars. Gorgeous pictures by an immensely talented new young artist illustrate a gentle, witty and surprising little text. Cat-lovers will find this irresistible..
About the Author
Madeleine Floyd graduated at Camberwell College of Art in 1995. She lives in Chiswick and divides her time between illustration and painting, with regular exhibitions of her work in London. This is her first book.
A stylish picture book with adult as well as child appeal Will feed into cat-lovers market "Floyd's finely observed paintings of Captain are given room to breathe in this large-format picture book for three-to-five year olds. While the first half of the book details a cat's daily ritual of washing, sleeping and eating, the night-time Captain is revealed to be a Romeo in a rowing boat." Dinah Hall, The Sunday Telegraph. 'The illustrations ... are gorgeous, and this is a book that adults will fall for too.' The Bookseller.
