About the Author

For many years, Wilfried Dechau was editor-in-chief of a magazine for architects and engineers, during which time he always maintained a particular focus on photography. In 1995, he created the »architekturbild« international architecture photography prize. In 1996, he wrote a book on architectural photography, and in 2003 he founded architekturbild e.v., a society for the promotion of artistic quality in architectural photography. In 2001, his series of photographs on the construction of the Great Belt Bridge in Denmark won the Kodak Photo Calendar Prize. Since 2005, Wilfried Dechau has devoted himself primarily to the task of documenting construction as a process, resulting in a number of monographs: Traversinersteg (2005), Seebrücke Sassnitz (2007), Dorfbrücke Vals (2010), Trutg dil Flem and Baakenhafenbrücke Hamburg (both 2013).
