"Season 8" ended with a bang that cut the world off from magic - culminating in another set of world-ending problems. Buffy has left her best friend, Willow, powerless, and brought an end to a millennia-long tradition of superpowered girls. By day, Buffy is a twenty-something waitress with no real direction, and even though magic is gone, she's still a Vampire Slayer by night. Bigger problem? Vampires are becoming an epidemic ...of zompires! Series creator Joss Whedon teams with Andrew Chambliss ("Dollhouse", "Once Upon a Time") and "Season 8" artist Georges Jeanty for the next life-affirming, world-changing season of the smash hit "Buffy the Vampire Slayer".
As the end of magic has finally come to Earth, the loss of it starts to sink in for Buffy and her friends Willow, Xander and her sister Dawn. Buffy tries to re-adjust herself into the "real world" as the war seems to be over, or does it? She now works in a Coffee Shop. Xander and Dawn settle into living together like a de facto couple, having earned a break from living life on the edge with a "normal life" as a reward. Spike who has rejoined the cast it seems alot of the Buffy/Spike scenes seem to pick up where they last saw each other in Season 7. Out of everyone Spike is the only one who isn't mad at Buffy for the events of Twilight, going as far to support her like he still has a thing for her. The person who considers to pay the biggest price for the loss of magic is Willow, as she feels its a crutch she can't walk without. This arc sets things up for the majority of season 9, and you'll be left wondering who is actually the "big bad? Is it Severin, Simone or Eldre Koh?
