About the Author

Jeffrey Laurenti is a senior fellow at The Century Foundation. As a senior adviser to the United Nations Foundation, he served as deputy director of the United Nations and Global Security Initiative. He was executive director of policy studies at the United Nations Association of the United States until 2003, and currently serves on the association's board of directors. Carl Robichaud is a program officer at The Century Foundation where he writes on nonproliferation and counterterrorism policy and directs the foundation's Afghanistan Watch program. Previously, he was a program officer with the Global Security Institute where he worked on issues of arms control and disarmament.
