When California geologist Don McLaughlin was hired to go to the wilds of Bolivia to hunt for oil in 1959, he took two degrees from Berkeley, a three-man field crew, and a couple of cameras. The resulting collection follows their three-year journey exploring the country, revealing striking photographs of bug-plagued hillsides, valleys, and mountains.
