I loved the early Anita Blake novels; heaps of good plotting and minimal sex (not that sex scenes in books are bad) - but as we get further into the series the sex is overtaking the story and we're losing the plot! I liked this book; I just wished there wasn't as much erotic action and more storyline. Sex is good; but I read these books because I love Anita's toughness; the vampires,and the shapeshifters - I don't read it for erotica. A good book to find out more about Jason. Just a little too much sex.

THIS BOOK WAS FANTASTIC. MOST OF IT IS ABOUT ANITA AND JASON. BUT I LOVE JASON AND IT WAS NICE TO GET TO KNOW HIM A LITTLE BETTER. WE ALL KNEW HE HAD A HARD LIFE BUT TO MEET HIS DAD... ITS NO WONDER THAT JASON LEFT HOME. AGAIN MORE BAD GUYS IN THIS ONE AND NOT AS MUCH ABOUT THE ARDURE IN THIS ON AND NOT AS MANY SEX SCENES WHICH SOMETIMES IS NICE. RICHARD AND ANITA COME HEAD TO HEAD AND FINALLY SORT OUT THEIR PROBLEMS, BUT YOU COULD ALMOST SEE THIS ONE COMING. LOVED THE BOOK AND AM FINALLY ONTO THE LAST BOOK FOR THE MOMENT. HOPE JASON IS OK.

I found this to be a really welcome return to more plot and a bit less sex. It's still there but its not the whole point of the book. The character development was back to what I loved about the earlier books, involved and believable even in such extraordinary circumstances. Well worth the read, hard to put down.

I too loved the early Anita Blake novels and are finding the lastest one also bogged down with sex and the ardeur. If she would go back to the earlier style it would be great. Its an ok book, nothing much happens and you get to see an insight into Jason's life and history. Marmee Noir is slowly becoming a greater presence in the series but again the sex overtakes everything and slows down the whole plot. Its an ok read but no where near as good as the earlier novels
