The Black Stallion is a great book, set on an island as well as in the suburban area of New York. The way that it is written, makes it suspenseful and thrilling all the way through. Many horse books are about girls with horses and so I would imagine that this book would appeal to boys as well and is great for a wide variety of ages. I recommend anyone to read it.
The Black Stallion is a classic book and well written. It is more about Alex than a true "horsey" it treats the horses like animals rather than like "humans with hooves" which of course makes the story more realistic. I think it would appeal to boys and girls where something like Pony Pals would not.
