A great book summarising the ages of the illumination work over the centuries. Having practised Calligraphy for over 40 years I still found fresh ideas in this book, but its also great fro the learner.

I have taught calligraphy on and off for over 10 years and consider that this would be a good resource for any one who is particularly interested in Illuminated work.

The spiral binding and compact size make it handy to use whilst working and the fact that complete alphabets are given in each of the Illuminated capitals presented is another great asset.

Do yourself a favour and buy this book. It is beautiful with lots of detailed images and explanations. It would have to be the best book I've found (and now own) on illumination. Good for both beginner and expert.

Having practised Calligraphy for nearly 40 years and especially illuminated work, I have used this book as an enormous tool for advancing this skill. It is well laid out with clear defining ages of illumination and their variations and you are taught how to replicate these styles in a clear manner.
It is well aid out and is useful to those who are new to illuminated work as well as those who have been doing it for years as I have but want to learn new apects and ideas for new projects.
