It's been a while since I've read a Christina Dodd historical and this one was way better then I anticipated.
Warning:This Book is not set in England
The story starts off when Miss Emma Chegwidden (the down trodden paid companion of the brutish and vulgar Lady Lettice)meets Lord Micheal Durrant the heir apparent to the Duke of Nevitt for the fist time at a ball.He gallantly assists her in finding her way back to her hellish employer since she has the tendency to get lost,a lot. After meeting Micheal, she accidentally puts a fish down her employers bodice and gets FIRED with literally the clothes on her back. She gets lost and gets rescued by the people's hero The Reaper...
I really liked this book,it kind of reminded me of Jude Deveraux's "The Raider" .Although I could have done without descriptions of Prince Sandre evil and violent deeds.Loved the hero's secret identity and how the heroine found out about him.
