I found this book to be helpful, informative and enjoyable.
I was especially interested in the sections on cakes and cake fillings and icings which were very informative. My only issue with the book is its in American measurements, which need to be converted but otherwise its no nonsense and a great book.
The pictures are great, and some of the cakes are amazing. I wish I could watch him work in person, and this book is a good companion to the tv show "cake boss" for all those cake fans who love to see how they make the cakes look like they do.
Some of the skill advice is down right simple and I was surprised at some effects were so easy while others I am still learning.
He tells a personal story through the book, referencing his father who has passed, Italian traditions, childhood and being "the cake boss".
Makes some of our so called cake shops over here look a bit how ya going when I see the recepies, methods and ingredients they use. not much is pre made quick mix.
All in all worth the read, the money and the time, especially if you happen to have made some of his cookies first, then read the remaining book with a cuppa and freshly baked goods.
