L J Smith was one of the first authors I picked up when I was about 12 years old. Her books were fantastically written, romantic, supernatural and so different from other books that are out there. These two books (The Awakening and The Struggle) were two books that got me into reading as a teen, and I still enjoy rereading them now. They are probably good for anyone between the ages of 13-17, but also there is no content in there that would upset anyone younger.
It is a mix of love, being a teenager, friendship, loyalty and the choice of one girl between two boys that love her. If you liked Stephenie Meyers books, then you will love anything written by L J Smith.

The Vampire Diairies I found to be a bit hard to get into at the start but after a few chapters it really does take off. Some aspects of the story are similuar to the Twilight saga but it does have its own twists that makes it unique, I got into it from the TV series but the books are a lot different. If you enjoy romance, mystery, suspence, magic, and action then this story is definatly for you

This is a great love story between human and vampire way better than twilight and there is also a TV Series showing for The Vampire Diaries where as Twilight you have to wait a whole year to see part 2. This story has mystery, suspense, drama, love exciting storyline that keeps you interested and wanting to read more to follow through all the volumes and find out what's happening. The TV Series has you on the edge of your seat although it's not exactly like the book it's addictive to read and watch The Vampire Diaries
