Sorry, but I wrote the review 01/05/2009 - and it was incorrectly put to this novel instead of book 2. So please disregard it.
This book was far from boring.....it was FABULOUS, funny, romantic and exciting.
I couldn't wait to get this novel and read about Margaret and her childhood love. Such a tragic story which ended beautifully, as does all Mary Balogh's wonderful romance novels. This is a novel that reflect how lies can make situations worse and how desperate times call for desperate measures. I love the way the families rally together to defend and celebrate...the humor and brawls add drama and excitement! Mary Balogh did an exceptional job of this novel. I can honestly HIGHLY RECOMMEND it to all....now bring on book 4 - I'm dying to read about Stephen!!!
Ok, as a fan who has read most of her recent works and a fair few of her older novels, I can honestly say that this book was "BORING!". I bascially skimmed the whole novel. No drama, the typical passion, chemistry and love. Very uneventful, uninteresting and pretty-much disappointing (when compared to her other works!). I was very much looking forward to reading this novel, after finishing book 1, but when I finished, I was actually reluctant to read the 3rd novel in this series, as I have heaps of other books to read that I'm sure will guarantee me a more exciting read! Nevertheless, I am a devoted fan and picked book 3 up straight away....I guess every author is allowed to have a few novels that just don't come off....right?
