Gaul was divided into three parts. No, four parts - for one small village of indomitable Gauls still held out against the Roman invaders. BOOK 6 Getafix, Obelix, Dogmatix and Asterix visit Egypt to help an architect build a palace for Caesar. There they are entranced by the Sphinx, the pyramids and Cleopatra's nose.

This has always been my absolute favourite of all of the Asterix books- ever since I first saw the slogan on the original edition cover that read, 'The Greatest Story Ever Drawn! 14 Litres of Indian Ink, 30 Brushes, 62 Soft Pencils, 1 Hard Pencil, 27 Erasers, 1984 Sheets of paper, 16 Typewriter Ribbons, 2 Typewriters, 366 Pints of Beer went into its creation!' When Julius Caeser bets the infamous Queen Cleopatra, (what a lovely nose she has!) That she can't build a palace for him in under a month- the chosen architect, Edifis realises that he will need some help from his old friend the Druid Getafix in order to complete his mission. With some fabulous tales of getting lost in a pyramid and the mystery of the Shinxs Lost Nose finally solved, book #4 is in my opinion the best Asterix book of them all. Absolutely reccommended- 5+ stars from me.
This is a good one. The story of Asterix and Obelix's encounter with the legendary Queen of the Nile is a very funny story, with plenty of opportunity for a romp through the history of Egypt, some gags with famous landmarks, and plenty of reference to a rather famous blockbuster. One of the best of the early stories, very funny and entertaining.
