This was a disappointing addition to the Asterix universe. It's an awkwardly combined universe, the Gauls and spacemen, and it just doesn't sit right. This might be a fun read for children, but for myself and other Asterix fans, it's a little bit more than bad.
Another quality Asterix Story - I purchased this one to complete my collection, and was amazed at the storyline - so different from the normal ones found in Asterix. I won't give it away since there are zillions of websites with the synopsis on it, but the characters presented were odd and slightly out of place, until they started interacting with the Gauls, then it seemed "normal"
I still stand by my adage, if you like one Asterix Book, you'll like this one, but it is different in storyline from the typical asterixs we grew up with.
I beleive that the previous comment was unfair. This Asterix comic contains all of the puns and other forms of cleaver humour that formally characterised the previous Asterix books. The plot-line isn't one of the best but they can't all be as brilliant as each other. I beleive that it is well worth the effort of buying abd that any true fan of Asterix will not be disappointed by this.
The latest in a series by an author long past his use-by date. Uderzo's writing was never a match for Goscinny's, but they get worse with time. I don't know whether this is a serious attempt at literature, or a money-spinner, or a means of filling in hours at the resthome.
The story is uninspiring, implausible, and lacks the sublety and wit which originally characterised the Asterix books. I have a feeling the drawing is gettng simpler too, although that may be confirmation bias on my part.
Buy it to technically complete your Asterix collection; buy one of the others to read.
