These are the memorable stories that started it all. If you haven't yet met this country vet & heard him reminisce about the people & animals that were part of his life in Yorkshire, you're in for a treat. The TV series was great, but nothing beats the book. It's the kind you can pick up for a quick read of a tale or two, or get lost in for hours. You will smile, laugh out loud, and probably cry.

All Creatures Great and small combines Herriots first two books - 'If Only They Could Talk' and 'It Shouldn't Happen to a Vet'. These are tales of a country vet in the Yorkshire Dales in the 1930s, and are warm, humourous stories of the animals and people of the area.
Highly recommended, a relaxing, evocative read.
