I bought this book along with Paul Balmer's "The Gibson Les Paul Handbook" because I love American guitars (I've owned over 20), I collect guitar books and am just starting to build my own Les Paul style guitar.
I have several other books by Tony Bacon and while this is a welcome addition I can't help thinking that it's been cobbled together from previous offerings. The pictures and general layout all seem familiar and I keep thinking "haven't I seen/read this before?". It's like a greatest hits album, not really anything new, just another rehash.
Now, to be a bit more positive; the pictures are good and the text is easy to follow, but that's about it.
Overall I think the author could have come up with something outstanding, espcially with his experience and access to rare instruments and players. A sheep in wolf's clothing?

Hi,there,guys,
An absolutely brilliant book....I'm biased of course...Gibsons are the greatest guitars ever, for me.
I was enthralled from start to finish, and still look at it time and time again.
Kindest regards Jimbo
